12.04 should contain all the appropriate drivers but I don't know enough about the chipset in your adapter to say that for certain.

Any updates on this? Would love to hear about them.

I recently needed to use my MR3020 in a client emergency. Decided to replace it with a MR3040 (Same thing, nicer package, includes 2000mAh battery.)

For those who are looking at the same, here are the pros and cons for the MR3040:

Pros
- Built-in battery, good for around 5 hours
- Sleeker design. Fits very comfortably in pocket
- Software reset button

Cons
- Almost no extra space inside the case, so not as easy to access serial port when the case is closed
- No 3-way switch

It has the same 4 lights as the 3020, and since the reset switch is software configurable, there's nothing stopping you from using some clever scripting to use it to mode switch (and have an LED flash at different speeds to indicate mode.
Downside of this is that, like all good reset buttons, you need a pointy object. Upside is that you can have 2, or 10 different modes, or anything in between.

Availability is much the same as the MR3020. The biggest annoyance for me is the serial port, but that's because I use it a lot.
I'd still rather have the 3040

Really like the idea of having multiple modes.

Would there be a way to change modes without having to do so through a computer. Say for example adding your own switches?
