I've successfully created the minipwner on the mr3040. However, as I look around in the directory, I notice there is no minimode page. In /www/cgi-bin/, the only thing I see is luci. Does the most recent minipwner tar not come with the minimode page? If that's the case, where could I go and configure the switches in the filesystem to create my own?

So apparently the setup.sh script on step 16 was corrupted. Possibly microsoft updated something which caused ^M to be added to the end of every line of the script. If youre using windows, you can work around this by opening setup.sh with a text editor and copying every line individually into the command prompt. This is just until the setup script get fixed. This only happens on a windows system. It seems linux is unaffected.

I had this same issue using Linux. As stated, you can see ^M is at the end of every line if you use cat -v setup.sh. The setup script was likely written edited in Windows, OSX and windows use \r or \r\n respectively as the line break. If opened in Vi it shows on the bottom it is a DOS format file. Linux uses \n and when it reads something else it changes it to ^M. You can either copy paste the text and save as a new setup.sh, use dos2unix, or open in Vi and type :set ff=unix to change the file format from dos to unix and :w to write the file format changes. If you run cat -v again, you should see $ at the end of each line. If that is the case you're good to go.

figured out if you run the setup.sh as-is you will not get good results.
WINSCP will say

/tmp$ sh setup.sh
setup.sh: line 9: clear: not found
setup.sh: line 10: : not found
setup.sh: line 14: : not found
tar: can't change directory to '/': No such file or directory
setup.sh: line 17: : not found
mv: can't rename 'files/minimodes': No such file or directory
chmod: /etc/init.d/minimodes: No such file or directory
setup.sh: line 23: : not found
mv: can't rename 'files/minimodes.html': No such file or directory
chmod: /www/minimodes.html: No such file or directory
mv: can't rename 'files/firewall': No such file or directory
chmod: /etc/config/firewall: No such file or directory
mv: can't rename 'files/banner': No such file or directory
chmod: /etc/banner: No such file or directory
setup.sh: line 31: : not found
setup.sh: line 36: : not found
The MiniPwner Overlay 2.0.0 has been applied.

Reboot your device for everything to take effect.

SO.......
its basically like a directions page you must redirect and do it yourself manually.
If you dont have minimodes on the CGI-BIN
then you can find it in the files folder. Its just a single file, not the complete folder.

also to access minimodes if you look on the page.
open a browser
type in your IP for the minipwner/cgi-bin/minimodes
i tried 192.168.3.1 but didnt have luck and quickly figured out it was what they assigned to their minipwner.

I may be stateing the obvious to many folks here. however if you are slow like me then this will be of assistance. if you cant figure this out without these directions. honestly you should just quit now and not do this.
I dont code, nor have i ever, and if i can figure it out. i would hope you should have too.

thanks to all those who have given me any guidance, it seems most of the time im just talking to myself anyways..... :/

you are going to have a hell of a time using this device if you can't navigate the terminal. the majority of pentesting tools are terminal only. Please refer to my post about using cat and the vi editor. It would have made this much easier for you. Also a large part of using these tools is learning by yourself and researching, the old give a man a fish vs teaching him to fish saying comes to mind. Many forums are much less forgiving and you will only receive responses such as RTFM (read the f'ing manual) or Google it. Don't take this as criticism, but suggestions to help expand your knowledge and skills.
